Dear Moon musers, the moon is full this month on April 6th in the auspicious and highly blessed star constellation or Nakshatra, Hasta, according to Jyotisha, the science of Vedic astrology.
Hasta is “she who manifests blessings in the palm of her hand”. Hasta is in the rashi or sign of Virgo, the Virgin Sun Queen who brings tools of nourishment and healing to humanity. She is the Goddess of the Earth and represents service and bounty. She is the guardian of justice and truth and has a keen perception for perfection and the order of the universe. Virgo is ruled by the planet mercury who is currently transiting Aries who carries the first house energy of new beginnings, travel, communication and impulsive action. Hasta is ruled by the moon so his energy is enhanced even more significantly. Hasta is considered the most powerful nakshatra with the blessing of manifestation of one’s hearts desire, but it is balanced by humility and at times, low esteem making the native unaware of his or her own power. We can liken this to the tale of the hobbit in the epic battle between good and evil, light and darkness in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Bilbo Baggins, the simple and humble hobbit from a small shire was given the great task of being the caretaker and protector of a golden ring which brought its owner power beyond imagination and sorely tempted all who contacted it to lust for power, and slide into the dark side. Bilbo, in his purity and innocence could resist the temptation of the ring and face great evil with perseverance, to finally push back the forces of darkness threatening to swallow the world and return to his shire to tell the tale. Hasta’s energy epitomizes the hero’s journey. As the moon reaches fullness with this energy, we can contemplate our own inner power via our connection to source through the purity of the heart and bring to fruition our deepest longing for fulfillment which only truly comes through surrender and grace.
