The Listening Star

The Listening Star

This week emerges under the auspices of the star constellation or Nakshatra, Sravana, the listening star. Sravana is ruled by the Moon and its diety is Visnu, the preserver. Sravana is composed of three stars that represent the three sounds of AUM.

A, the waking state, U, the dream state and M, the state of deep sleep, followed by turia, the transcendental state. AUM is the sound of creation, the initiation principle of the goddess Saraswati. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The first expression of the material realm as an expression of the divine is sound.

These three stars also represent the three steps of Vishnu in his incarnation as Vamana, the divine dwarf who overcame the great demon, Bali. Vishnu is said to incarnate 9 times, whenever dharma is threatened and evil dominates the world. He came as Krishna as depicted in the Bhagavad Gita.

Sravana is intimately connected to to the unmanifested realms, psychic and intuitive learning, learning through listening. She is the listener and the ability to transmit knowledge through call and response. She is the realm of mantra.

The message of this nakshatra is to slow down and listen to the subtle realms and to your own inner knowing. She is further supported by three big planetary aspects. Saturn, who rules her position in Capricorn is retrograde in the Nakshatra Shattibishak in Aquarius. Shattibishak is the deep healing energy of the indigenous people and their connection to the earth and the sacred circle. Jupiter, the guru is retrograde in the mysterious Nakshatra, Bharani who is the birth portal between the past and present and connected to the spirit world. Venus is moving into gandanta between Cancer and Leo. Gandanta is the transformation “knot” of water moving into fire. Venus is our higher ideals which are purified in this process. Mercury is in the Nakshatra, Purva Phalguni, the cat reclining in the hammock, representing the one who muses and receives inspiration in a restful state.

Slow down this week, which is a resting week before we move into the month of October, a month with many dramatic planetary events and eclipses. Reflect and listen to your heart. Remember that your goals may take three steps or tries before being realized.

Sravana is the power to preserve and to never quit.

Much love,

Neva
